Advent & Christmas at Southminster

No one has had a greater impact on history than Jesus Christ, and for good reason. Everything changed when God sent his son to be born into humanity. Got entered into our humanity in one of the most unexpected and humble ways possible. The story of Christmas is our story, and it's your story.

Advent is a season of waiting and preparation that begins 4 Sundays before Christmas, and finishes on Christmas Eve. Each year during Advent we celebrate the birth of Jesus and eagerly look forward to his second coming.

Join us in these special events that help us prepare our hearts, our family, and our community for the coming of Jesus.

  • Sunday Worship Service Online | December 26th | 10:30 AM

This year, the day after Christmas is a Sunday.  After the Advent season and since so many will be spending time with family, we're going to take the opportunity to do something special on that date - Church in your PJs

This is designed to be a service of online worship, singing and celebrating, and no preaching too. It will follow the traditional Lessons and Carols structure but it takes on a more relaxed feel. Between the readings, we're going to sing some of our most loved Christmas hymns (don't worry, I'll mute you if you want).

So join us in your PJs on the 26th on Zoom (and not in the Sanctuary). You can find the link below.

  • Advent Daily Devotionals

During the season of Advent people in our church family write daily devotionals that we send out each evening. Each devotional contains a scripture passage, a devotional, and a prayer.

If you would like to receive a daily devotional to help you center on the true importance of this time, then simply click here and submit your email. You will be added to the list and automatically begin receiving the emails.

  • Monday Night Bible Study - Eyewitness Christmas Series - 7 PM

Join us for a 3 week Advent series! We will be studying the Christmas Series from the Eyewitness Bible Series. This series is a collection of ten new episodes designed to be watched on the three Sundays prior to Christmas week, plus the seven days of Christmas week, ending on Christmas day. These videos will be the feature of our daily devotionals the 7 days leading up to and through Christmas.

Each session will feature 1 eyewitness. These are fictional accounts meant to spur on conversation but they are heavily rooted in the narrative of the Bible.
